Frick & Frack

Still not quite sure what Frick and Frack are, but they are sure pretty! Not quite look a likes for Big Bird like Melvin and Marvin are, but similar…

  1. I came across your post randomly but was looking at Frick and her adoptees. Actually sent that to a friend who has a broody girl b/c it was very interesting way to handle that plus expand your flock! As far as her breed, she looks like a Cream Legbar to me but wasn’t sure what color eggs she was laying. The Cream Legbar chickens lay a beautiful blue egg. One of the most popular auto-sexing breeds in the world, the Cream Legbar is still very rare in the United States. Female hens sport a small crest and are silver grey with a salmon-colored breast. I’ve wanted to add this breed to my flock this year but our local store didn’t get any in. I should have ordered direct…maybe next year!

    1. I believe she was sold to us as a green egg layer, but the folks at Rural King have admitted when chicks come in sometimes there was a person working who just put them wherever they thought they should go…hence the mixing and guess work of who was who. I do believe frick lays a green egg, we have only recently added blue to our mix this year! Yes, I love adding chicks to broody girls. So much less work for us, and they get the joy of babies!
