Ask the Pool Guy: Mity Oak in the Concrete Tree {Legendary Escapes}

Two things I briefly want to talk about. Number one is, part of the project was to build a rope swing in this massive concrete tree. This is solid concrete, twelve feet in the ground. Rebar tied up so they could be able to hang off of there and rope swing and whatever. In this particular case … So, something I have found. I’ve had this in my possession for many years now, is this front of a wood stove. What was really interesting about it is I had it and I thought as soon as I do the tree, we want to do something with it. We want to work it into the tree. It’s called Mighty Oak. How perfect for this. Being steam punk in theme, here’s this tree that has this door that opens up. On the inside we have a little cubby in there. There is a light in there so at night there is a little bit of light that comes out of there.
It’s kind of a cool place right now. We have made a little bird nest out of some wire and some soapstone birds. But, just those little details, this could have been just a tree. Why not do something a little bit more? Why not give them other things that are visually interesting that as guests are here checking out the place, they also have these little treats, these little places. I just thought how ironic and cool it was that I bought this many, many years ago, had it in my barn of stuff. A bag barn of tricks when I was going to need it. Sure enough, it says Mighty Oak on it. I thought that was really kind of a cool moment when we put it up there. How fitting for this massive concrete tree that we built.
