Ask the Pool Guy: Document Underground Plumbing with Photos {Legendary Escapes}

One of the things that’s really important, especially when you get into crazy projects that have a lot of stuff going on, most equipment pads are fairly basic in nature and plumbing running in a certain direction. As they get more complicated and the plumbing gets bigger, it’s always important to make visual record of your projects. We make sure that we take tons and tons of pictures, both video and all kinds of snapshot pictures. As each part is being done, someone on the crew is taking pictures and we’re uploading them and putting them into the file for that customer.
It’s really important that when the landscaper comes in next, if there’s any places that are in question, we have a visual record of here’s what’s going on there so that they know because the last thing that anyone wants to do is to dig into and mess with plumbing when it gets to this massive scale and size and then underground and then trying to repair. There could be a dozen lines going any direction at any one time.
Make a visual record. I know it’s a pain in the butt sometimes but make sure that you spent the time to visually record everything right from a basic pool to the most complicated pool. You should do that anyway. Technology is so easy with phones and the ability to store on Dropbox, there’s no excuse not to take tons of video and tons of pictures of the entire process so that you have video record and visual record that can be shared with the homeowner or just simply with you to have on record so you know exactly what you’ve done.

We’re happy to work with local builders, wherever “local” might be, to design and build beautiful pools all over the country.
